The French style and the overtures of Bach: PART TWO

In terms of performance problems, an overture of Bach principally differs from one by Lully in its greater notational complexity. Most of the rhythmic evidence presented in part 2 of this article is therefore concerned with the 'French style' according to French testimony, and Bach enters into the argument when he confronts us with additional puzzles.
